How Long Should a Real Estate Walkthrough Video Be?

When it comes to marketing a property, a well-made real estate walkthrough video can be a powerful tool.  A walkthrough video allows potential buyers to get a feel for a property without having to be there in person, and it can help you stand out from the competition. But how long should a real estate walkthrough video be?

The answer to this question depends on a few factors, including the size of the property and the amount of detail you want to include in the video. In general, however, the ideal length for a real estate walkthrough video is one to two minutes.

A video that is too long can quickly become boring and lose the viewer’s attention. On the other hand, a video that is too short may not provide enough information or may not give the viewer a good sense of the property. A video that is one to two minutes long strikes a good balance and provides enough time to showcase the property without overstaying its welcome.

Walking shots with a professional, motorized gimbal is the best way for real estate photographers to shoot a walkthrough video because it provides a sense of movement and immersion that is not possible with static pans. By using a gimbal, the camera can smoothly “fly” through the home, allowing viewers to experience the layout and flow of the space as if they were actually walking through it. This creates a more engaging and realistic experience for the viewer, helping them to envision themselves in the space and better understand the layout and features of the property. Additionally, using a gimbal allows the photographer to capture the natural transitions between rooms, showing how each space connects and flows into the next, which is crucial for accurately conveying the layout of the home.

When shooting your walkthrough video, focus on capturing the key features of the property. This might include the exterior, the entryway, the main living areas, and any standout features such as a fireplace or a spacious backyard. Be sure to also include shots of the bedrooms and bathrooms, as these are often key selling points for buyers.

As you edit your video, keep in mind the pacing and flow. Avoid including too many long, static shots.  Use real estate music or other audio elements to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the video, but avoid using too much music or dialogue, as this can be distracting.

Adding subtitles to a real estate walkthrough video is not necessary because the visuals alone are enough to convey the information to the viewer. People already know what a kitchen looks like, so there is no need to include the word “kitchen” on the screen. In fact, adding subtitles could be distracting and take away from the viewing experience.  So save yourself some time and skip the subtitles – your viewers will thank you.

Overall, the key to creating a great real estate walkthrough video is to keep it focused, engaging, and informative. By following these tips, you can create a video that will help potential buyers get a feel for your property and make them want to learn more.
